Farm Description

This coffee comes from the highlands of Lintong Nihuta in North Sumatra, where the Batak people have cultivated coffee for generations. Grown by various smallholder farmers on small plots at around 1,400 MASL, the farms are typically intercropped with other crops and managed with traditional, hands-on methods. The volcanic soil, high altitude, and cool climate contribute to the dense, complex character that defines coffees from this region.

Coffee Overview

Lintong is one of Sumatra’s most celebrated coffee origins, known for its bold flavor and velvety body. This lot, produced from a mix of Ateng, Jember, and Garundang varieties, showcases the region’s unique terroir and traditional methods, resulting in a cup that is both comforting and indulgent.

Processing Method

Wet Hulled (Giling Basah) – A traditional Sumatran technique in which cherries are pulped, briefly fermented, then hulled while still wet before final drying. This method, adapted to the region’s humid climate, gives the coffee its signature full body, deep sweetness, and rustic complexity.

Cup Profile

Prunes · Blueberry · White Chocolate
A complex and indulgent cup with deep prune sweetness, bright blueberry highlights, and a creamy white chocolate finish. Full-bodied with low acidity and a smooth, lingering aftertaste.
